2nd August 2008

A bright and sunny day with a bunch of Panther scouts cooking near Sembawang Park. Much more urbanised than I thought it would be. Amazingly, no one burnt their fringe or anything this time. (or any hair as far as I know)

Lessons learnt:
  1. Avoid choosing the bottom of a slope for cooking as it is a place where the roots have less hold on the soil and may be more flooded by water after rain than the land on the higher ground.
  2. Amber has to be sustained.
  3. Do not stand around and idle. DO SOMETHING!
  4. Do not be afraid of attending the fire. Try.
  5. Some vegetatbles are rarely used in soup.
  6. Heat a rock and you can cook on the rock. (Richie's research)

It is a really good experience to cook there because there are no water taps we can use there. We can crack a joke to lighten the mood but it doesn't seems to work on me. Weird.

Most importantly, backwoodsman cooking should focus on the food, not the chopsticks. Shaving chopsticks all day are for "G*** *****s".

To sum it all up, the big gulps were really tasty I don't know why but the clouds that day was really white and fluffy. They looked just like...... erm... clouds. Just kidding. It was good for most, but much hard work is needed to meet the standard.
