Heyo Panthers NPC is this thursay the next post is abt our awards and etc pictures,vids will be shown i hope Today lemme share with you about the Panther Story From Albert Nai Sir aka SunBird Our Panther symbol started way back from 1970s. But we got lost in the midst of 1990s. It was until GauthamaDinesh and myself had been posted there. Then we re-established the symbol again. In the Jungle Book, Mowgli, the Leaping Frog, actually learned from Baghera, the black panther and Baloo, the Bear who taught him the order & laws of the jungle. It was black as it is the color of superior. The Panther means it is steady when hunting due to its night color of the dark and its vision of the night. Its fast and swift to move. Its fangs are sharp and killing. It means that as panthers, we are steady when doing things that we believe due our vision and motto; "Be Prepared". Fast and ready for action at the callings of our leaders, move like the wind as skills and knowledge will pour to us. Sharp and Killing meaning ourselves are always alert and ready to make the move for the rest to follow. We blended ourselves well with the surrounding and adopts to it as we moved. The Panther was chosen by General Lee to be the animal of our troop. The word; "中正" is the chinese word for our school as it means our school. The white background means purity. The words in red means the blood of all mankind. We are the few schools that uses chinese words on the scout emblem. As history said, Chung Cheng High (Main) is a Chinese communist school as riots and strikes were lead ed by students of the school. General Lee also started a few troops in Katong such as Dunman High (Crane) Scout Troop and Tanjong Katong (Seladang) Scout Troop. That's what i have at the moment as I can recall. You can go ask your Leader, Tah Hong for the part on what did he use during his time in NPC. All the best for NPC. The 1970s part about wad led to the Panther as our emblem.I did a research on this part and found something interesting that MAY have a link to the founding of the Scout unit In the 1970s, there was an island wide hunt for a black panther that escaped from the Mandai zoo, and it was caught at Tanjong Rhu.The distance is very far.Not long after the animal was captured, there were sighting as claimed by some people that they saw the Black Panther spirit at the nearby casuarinas trees.Well its just an assumption that this may have led to the founding of Panther scouts, the dates are almst similar and the one who saw the *spirit* may be the founder?Well its up to you to believe coz its juz a guess from me http://www.spi.com.sg/haunted/tanjong_rhu/main.htm DL |
